Karine Bohbot (Chair) is a partner in the two-women owned and run law firm of Bohbot & Riles, located in Oakland, CA. Ms. Bohbot has been practicing law for 19 years, specializing primarily in employment litigation. She also practices in the area of personal injury and immigration law. Ms. Bohbot is the current SFTLA President. She is a member of ACBA, and is SPHR certified. Ms. Bohbot has successfully tried a number of cases to verdict, being named as a 2009 finalist for SFTLA’s Trial Lawyer of the Year award and a 2012 finalist for CAOC’s Street Fighter of the Year, and the 2015 Civil Justice Awardee. She is AV rated and has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer since 2009.
Anne Costin runs her own plaintiff’s employment practice, Costin Law Inc., in San Francisco, which she opened after spending several years as an associate at The Dolan Firm. Anne graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2008. She has since worked at USF as an Adjunct Professor, instructing students on how to effectively prosecute employment cases. In 2017 Anne was named San Francisco Trial Lawyer of the Year for her successful prosecution of a whistleblowing case resulting in a $20 million jury verdict for a single plaintiff employee.
Jeff Mitchell is the principal attorney at the Mitchell Law Group. He specializes entirely in prosecuting medical malpractice cases. A former defense lawyer, Jeff spent the first several years of his career at a prominent medical malpractice defense firm representing clients such as UCSF. Jeff is annually named a Super Lawyer, and is also annually selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America among other peer selected groups. He had attained the two largest medical malpractice verdicts in two northern California counties. He also was named the 2009 SFTLA Trial Lawyer of the Year and was named Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year -- Plaintiffs for San Francisco by Best Lawyers in America twice throughout the past three years. Mr. Mitchell also just received a 68 million-dollar verdict in Fresno County.
Craig M. Peters is a Partner at Advocate Trial Group, LLP in San Francisco. Mr. Peters handles a wide range of types of negligence cases, including products liability. Mr. Peters has experience with cases that range from legal malpractice to family law, and from intellectual property to medical malpractice. Mr. Peters is a member of ABOTA and was a finalist for the 2013 SFTLA Trial Lawyer of the Year.
Bobby Shukla represents plaintiffs in employment litigation at Shukla Law. She currently serves on the Board of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and as the editor of the Trial Lawyer Magazine. She also serves on the Board of the National Lawyers Guild Foundation and is a former Vice President of the Bay Area Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. She has been named a Rising Star or a Super Lawyer every year since 2009 and named one of the Top Women Attorneys in Northern California every year since 2012. She is also a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services.
Markus Willoughby is the principal at Willoughby Law Firm. Markus concentrates his law practice on personal injury litigation, focusing almost exclusively on medical negligence and wrongful death. He has tried dozens of cases and arbitrations in multiple jurisdictions on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Currently he serves on the SFTLA Board of Directors, is the Chair of the Mock Trial Committee, Co-Chair of the Committee on Directors and an active member of the Expert’s Committee. He has lectured on deposition techniques, discovery practice, trial tactics, managing expert medical witnesses, the responsibilities of mental health counselors, informed consent and handling difficult medical malpractice cases. Markus is AV rated, was nominated as Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2013 and 2014, and was honored to receive SFTLA’s prestigious Civil Justice Award in 2014.
