Join a master panel for a discussion about trial strategy and persuasive techniques drawn from recent winning presentations in a personal injury and a wrongful death trial as well as from the panel’s collective experience. We will share concrete examples of what worked and why from each phase of those trials from jury selection to closing arguments.


Carol Bauss (Chair) is a Senior Litigation Consultant at NJP Litigation Consulting/West. Ms. Bauss has been with NJP for 25 years and has worked on over a thousand cases around the country. She advises attorneys on trial presentation and jury selection strategy and works with witnesses to improve their communication skills. Her deep knowledge of juror attitudes, juror bias, and jury decision-making is drawn from her years of experience conducting focus groups, mock trials and post-verdict juror interviews. She helps legal teams find the human story and universal themes within complex legal disputes.

Richard Schoenberger a partner at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger was selected as the 2016 Best Lawyers in America “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation SF, voted the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the SFTLA in 2011 and has been recognized for 8 years as one of the “Top 100” lawyers in Northern California, as evaluated by Super Lawyers.

Andje M. Medina is a Partner and Trial Attorney at Altair Law in San Francisco. Her practice focuses on serious injury and wrongful death cases. In 2017, Ms. Medina was named a Top 40 Lawyer under 40 in California by the Daily Journal and was a finalist for the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. She serves on the boards of both Consumer Attorneys of California and San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. She has lectured and authored extensively on various personal injury topics.
