Sandra Ribera Speed (Chair), is a San Francisco-based attorney whose firm, Ribera Law Firm, APC, focuses on representing plaintiffs in personal injury and employment matters. Ribera Law Firm has been part of the litigation team that represented Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson’s three children in their wrongful death action against the worldwide sporting and music entertainment company, AEG Live.
Mary Alexander has earned a national reputation for her work protecting consumer rights. At her firm, Mary Alexander & Associates, Mary is taking on leadership positions in the litigation of noteworthy mass tort cases involving the Oakland Ghost Ship fire, the North Bay fires, as well as the talc powder cases against Johnson & Johnson. Josephine Alioto is a San Francisco native dedicated to serving those from underprivileged communities throughout the Bay Area. In 2016, she became a Partner at Lifschitz, Ezrin, Darsky & Alioto, a firm specializing in tenant rights and its attendant issues. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Eviction Defense Collaborative, the principal organization in San Francisco that aids low-income tenants in responding to eviction lawsuits.
Deborah Chang is an attorney with the firm of Panish Shea & Boyle LLP. She was on the trial teams that obtained a recent $160,500,000 verdict for a brain injury in Las Vegas, the two largest wrongful death verdicts in California in 2014, and four of the top 25 verdicts in California in both 2014 and 2015 – including the largest verdicts received in North County, San Diego (Vista) and Imperial County (El Centro). Debbie’s unique approach to telling her clients’ stories at trial is one of Debbie’s most distinguishing characteristics as a trial attorney.
Noemi Esparza is an attorney at the law firm of Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora where she has been practicing since 2009. She has handled and tried personal injury cases including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Ms. Esparza is also active in the Consumer Attorneys of California’s legislative efforts, wherein she assisted in the passage of Assembly Bill 2159, which ensured equal treatment to injured undocumented immigrants with a future income loss claim.
Valerie McGinty is a certified appellate specialist who specializes in affirming plaintiffs’ verdicts. She was CAOC’s 2016 Marvin E. Lewis recipient and CAOC’s 2014 Street Fighter of the Year. In 2017, she founded the only PAC dedicated to reaching gender parity in the California State Legislature—Fund Her.
