*CANCELLED* Selecting and Handling Medical Malpractice Cases




This program will explore how to select, reject and initiate medical malpractice cases. The program will cover what to look for in a case, the initial investigation, the statute of limitations, cost control and document control. Sample 364 letters, sample rejection letters, sample complaints and discovery requests will be provided.

Boone Callaway (Chair) is SFTLA’s treasurer, and is a co-chair of the SFTLA Diversity committee. Boone has been a partner at Callaway & Wolf since 1995, where he handles plaintiff’s tort cases including medical malpractice and personal injury. Boone received his B.A. at the University of Texas at Austin in 1983, his J.D. at the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1986, and has been a member of the California Bar since 1986. Boone is an AV-rated lawyer who has tried and arbitrated numerous cases to verdict.

Francesca Bannerman of Emmison Hullverson, is an advocate for those who have suffered a traumatic, life-changing injury or loss. She brings empathy and compassion to her role. Francesca has over 20 years of experience in a diverse range of cases. She has seen the effects of wrong-doing by corporate manufacturers — from the devastation of a commercial airplane crash, to the pain and disability caused by a defective hip implant. Her expertise and persistence helped to achieve outstanding results in such complex cases. She has also won compensation for severe injuries caused by negligent medical treatment, reckless driving, employment discrimination, and other forms of intentional and negligent misconduct.
